hwo do colleges find out about the ACT? Is there a score report that is sent out to colleges just like for the SAT? Also, how do i register for the ACTs and where? Consequently, how long is the whole ACT test itself? Thanks!

I think they all know about it by now.

Yes.

Around 40 pages.

I was not referring to the number of pages that there were in the test but rather the amount of time that the test actually runs. The duration in other words. Also in reference to you saying that colleges would get a score report. Does the student taking the test request that the score reports are sent out or do the colleges automatically recieve the score reports? How much does it cost to send out a score report?

Link: Test duration.

Colleges do not get reports unless you request them. If you request them when you register, you can list up to four colleges for no additional charge and two more colleges for $8.00 each. After you get your scores, you can have reports sent for $8.00 each.

if i hypothetically take the september 16th ACT and i wait to see my score. When should i expect to recieve the score report and how long would it take to send the score report to colleges (i send it)

September scores seem to arrive a little faster, I guess because the volume is so low. 90% will be in the mail within two weeks (three weeks if you take writing). 99%+ will be in the mail within four weeks.

Then, once it gets to you (remeber to allow a few days in the mail) and you request the report for the college, how long it takes to get there depends on the college. You could call the admissions office and ask when and how they get ACT scores. With some schools you'd be cutting it really close doing it this way if you have a Nov. 1 deadline to meet. If I were you, I would either request the reports when I registered, or pay to see my scores early online, or get the expedited service (AFTER checking with the school to see if they accept it and will get it in time).
