ACT/SAT score comparison?

Hello everyone.. i received a 1650 on the SAT and am aiming for a 30+ on the ACT, my score on my SAT really discouraged me when i was taking the ACT and i am really worried about my scores that come out Monday.

Anyone in the similar boat that did bad on the SAT but good on the ACT?

EDIT: I took the SAT with NO prep, and the ACT with minor prep.

Ya I got a 1850 on Sats but a 30 on ACTs so maybe you will do better on ACTs

I got 1760 first time around on the SAT, then 1910 (still lousy writing, 570), I'm retaking it in jaunary.

On the ACT I did 28, 26 and 30 so far, hopefully higher in december.

So yes, I went from a pretty bad 1760 to a pretty good 30.

I've seen 30 listed as the 96th and 97th centile, which is a 2060-2100 on the SAT.

I got a 1670 or so on the SAT in one sitting and took the ACT and got a 27 one sitting and a 27 the next (28 superscored, though). Hoping for above a 28 this time ahh.

1780 on SAT, 32 on ACT.

ACT = Easy

Except for the Science. Especially the December 2008 one. I still have nightmares about that >.>

Funny you should mention nightmares. I had one about the ACT in Dec last night. The sad part is that I'm 100% serious.

Same here. I had a nightmare that I got a 36M 35R 35E and... 25S.
XDDD

That is because the science was grotesque for lack of a better word.

I know that science is going to screw me over. It sucks.

Remember that the "science reasoning" section really isn't about science at all. It's about reading comprehension and interpretation of data. Everything that you need to answer the question is right in front of you. Keep that in mind and you won't find the section to be such a challenge.

It's normally not hard for me but this time, it seemed like you needed some chem background info. Or was that just me?

I got a 1680 on the SAT, but I got a 26 on the ACT. I retook the ACT and got a 29. Now, I'm hoping for a 30+. but who knows what's gonna happen after taking that #$%#$^ science.

I just thought it was an incredible amount of data to interpret in such a short time period. I also did 8 practice tests prior and none even came close in difficulty to the Dec. science section.

yeah.. got my scores for my first ACT

Comp- 25..

Comp W/o Sci- 28-29 =[[

I did horrible on the Science Section. I just freaked out and started thinking about scores guessed on like TWENTY. BUt im actually okay with my score. With prep and an easier science section. 30+ seems pretty attainable.
