So I have been debating if I should take the ACT one more time or not. I've only taken it twice (composite of 29 the first time and 31 the second). I am definitely planning on taking the SAT on Oct 1. I have also taken the SAT IIs (Math I and US History- My US History score was pretty decent but my Math 1 wasn't as high as I wanted it to be).
I don't know if I should take the ACT again or just keep my 31 and work at pushing my SAT score and take one more SAT II (Math 2?) on Nov 5. If I do decide to do that, I probably will not submit my ACT score to colleges and only send my SAT and SAT IIs. If I do decide to take the ACT, I will not take another SAT II and I will send colleges my SAT and ACT score.
I do believe I can improve on my ACT (I was literally a question away from a 32).
The colleges that I am looking into require either SAT/ACT or SAT& SAT II or SAT& ACT. I am from Louisiana and I really want to go to schools in the NE (I've been looking at Boston College and UNC and such) So could anyone please help me? Should I take the ACT again or not?

Senior or junior? Are you applying ED/EA? Do you have an idea of how high your SAT will be based on practice tests?

If you don’t believe your SAT will be better than the equivalent of a 31, take the ACT again. A 31 might have some trouble w/ UNC…

Those scores are definitely on the low side for UNC, not sure about BC. Since you do think you can improve, though, I’d highly advise taking it again. It’s a relatively painless 4 hours of testing once you put it into perspective.

I’m a senior, and I don’t plan on doing any ED but I may do some EAs for my safety schools.
Last practice SAT, I got a 2240. (January 2010 SAT test)

I don’t plan on submitting my ACT score if I don’t re take it. I only needed it for a scholarship for a school in Louisiana if I happened to stay in state.

I also don’t know if it’s worth investing the time. Because if I don’t take the ACT I can spend an extra month studying for the SAT.

You are like, totally smart and can totally get into BC ;)

I understand… Maybe would take the ACT again in November if your SAT isn’t a 2200 or better. That way, you can focus on the ACT at a separate time. I think most EA will consider your Nov score.

PS So many people from LA today… I happen to be from there too! ;)

Yeah, that’s pretty good. Thanks!

Oh awesome! I needed to take the ACT just in case for TOPS because I want to apply to Tulane too.

I agree with iridescentidyll; your SAT should be over 2200 if you aren’t going to take the ACT again
