Act + sat

Just quick question for clarification.

Does USC only pay attention to the higher of your test scores?
For example, my ACT score is much higher than my SAT. My ACT is equivalent to about a 2250-2300 SAT while my actual SAT was lower than that. Will they only look at the highest score as I've heard rumored? or will they look at both?

They’ll only consider your highest score.

Most schools will look at the higher score (mostly because if they admit you, the higher score will make their school look good as far as freshmen profile statistics go). However, if you’re being compared with someone who is VERY similar based on what your applications look like, it may be a disadvantage to have lower scores than the other applicant. But don’t worry - admissions at top schools are usually very holistic and tend to look for special qualities in an applicant since many applicants to these schools will have very similar (high) stats. Personally I don’t see much of a difference between a 2200 and a 2250 :/

Best of luck to you! I know it’s hard, but all this waiting will be over VERY soon (days!!!) so hang in there!

Thanks :)

I’m just…ready to know. Nothing else to say
