Act Science Confusion

Ok, so I just finished an official ACT practice exam and got my results back and was confused with the science section. I inncorrectly answered 7 questions out of 40 and it says I got a 24, is this even an accurate prediction? I knew I didn't preform at the highest level, but I didn't expect to receive such a low score in this section.

Also, does anyone have any tips for the science section? Thanks.

Welcome to the wonderful Science Section, where scoring often drops off faster than Wylie Coyote falls from a cliff!

In the Science Section, versus the Reading Section, you generally cannot miss as many and still score as high. While this is generally true, it does vary from test to test. I’ve seen Science Sections where you could’ve missed seven and scored around a 28. It really does vary. More often than not, though, what you experienced is pretty close to the norm.

If you look at score conversion charts for different tests, you’ll see how this works. These can be found online and in various prep books. Last thought: And this is why we practice.

if you miss seven you should usually end up anywhere from 27 to 30… Maybe even 31 if the section is very difficult. That science section must have been extremely easy compared to others.

Oh, ok. Thanks @treyinator & @arkansas.

Tbh, it was actually really easy than any other act science section I have taken. It was all common sense or references to the simple charts, but I messed up (7 times) on questions that I could’ve gotten correct if I just took some more time. But there wasn’t that much time, lol.

Thanks again.
