I am planning on taking ACT in December and I sort of started studying. I consistently get above a 33 in Math, Reading, and English (probably from studying for SAT), but my score in Science is pretty humiliating. How do you guys approach the science section? Does the science section require a lot of prior science knowledge? What prep book is best for the science section? Thank you for all your help!!!

Hi, I got a 36 on the science section in the September ACT and my tip to you is: Stop thinking of it like a science section. It’s not.

What I mean is, the section does not expect you or actually test you on any scientific knowledge (otherwise, it would be thrown out by universities because America’s science program is years behind the rest of the world…sigh) but it’s actually a logic and reasoning section, much like reading. Don’t waste time reading data and graphs, when you read the question just remember that the answer MUST be in the accompanying graph or data so try to match up the answer with the data EXACTLY. The only way to become proficient at this is practice practice practice, do practice science sections and time yourself. Become a pro at looking at a question and identifying where in the passage/charts and graphs the answer is and you will get a 30+ no doubt! I hope this helped.
