ACT Science Tips?

Hey!

I am applying to top-tier colleges, so I want my scores to be top-notch. I did amazingly on the ACTs, except for science:
English: 36
Math: 35
Reading: 33
Science: 25

I first thought this was due to loosing focus towards the end of the test, but even after taking science practice tests every day, I can never get above a 30. Does anyone have any tips regarding the science test before I retake it on Saturday?

Thanks!

I think I can relate to you - I’ve gotten SO SICK of taken practice tests everyday- ESPECIALLY SCIENCE, so I’m not taking any more science tests till the real test Saturday. Good Luck!

oak, I have the SAME problem.
I got a 27 in my science section and a 34+ on all other sections!
But on the September ACT, I got a 31 because when I practiced I gave myself 10 minutes less time to take it. It really helped my time management. You should try that.

Best Tips?

There are three types of passages for the Science ACT: One in which you can pass by without reading the information, and the other in which reading the passages will help you.

How do you know which passage is each?

The passages with 5 sections are the ones you do not have to read
The passages with 6 or 7 sections are the ones that reading the section will extremely help you

There are three passages with 5 questions, three passages with 6 questions, and one passage with 7 questions.

The passage with 7 questions is conflicting viewpoint, which is VERY similar to the reading section but with less content to remember.

If you can get all the Data Representation questions right (Passages in which you do not have to read and are 5 questions) + every question right for the conflicting viewpoint, you are looking at 22/40 with still 3 passages left.

Suppose you miss one on each passage with 6 questions, you are still getting a 37/40, which in most scenarios will be a 30-33.

Time Management is big on the Science Portion

The passages with 5 questions should take you 3-4 minutes
The passages with 6 questions should take you 5-6 minutes
The passages with 7 questions should take you 5-6 minutes
