ACT science vs AP Science

So I have a 33 on the ACT with a 30 on the science... which is okay, but my other subscores are 35/33/34, so there's obviously a pretty big discrepancy.

I recently got back my AP scores after taking 2 AP sciences this year (chemistry and enviro) and got 5s on both of them. Would this 'soften the blow' of the 30, so to speak? Cause they'd see that I'm good at science, just not ACT science? And especially because chem (other than physics) is one of the hardest AP tests offered.

Thank you!

In fact, I personally think that the ACT science is quite different from AP science and other “real” science stuff.

To put it in this way… I think the ACT science is more like a “fancy” reading comprehension test with a bunch of graphs/figures/tables/experiments.

30 isn’t a bad score. Yes the 5’s will obviously look good and are more indicative of your skill than the ACT science. Unless you want to major in science (and even if you did) the 30 shouldn’t be much of an issue.

okay! i’m just worried cause the 33 is a little low for Harvard and Princeton. and my math/english scores are way higher and i think those count a little more cause they’re the only ones reported on their websites. and im applying for business so yay!

Good luck! I get where you’re coming from I have a 34 (36 E, 35 R, 34 S, 29 M) so yeah similar situation. Only applying to one ivy possibly though and no math major so I’m good I think haha

hahaha true! good luck :)
