Hey I just took the ACT for my first time with minimal practice and scored a 26, is it possible to boost my score to a 32 with ACT classes, prep books, test practice, etc?
And I know sound like an idiot compared to the people getting 35’s on the ACT, so please help me out here. My dream is school is Penn and I’ve honestly (excuse my language) worked my ass off on EC’s and my GPA. Penn is my dream school and I’m sure I can find a school that is near my level of love for Penn, but this is what I’ve worked 3 years for so far and I’m willing to throw this away (took the only 2 honors available in 8th - going into 11th).
Hi! Of course it’s possible to increase your ACT score. “Yes we can!” right? Honestly, I don’t think you need to buy a book to increase your score, because practice tests are available online (link for many old actual ACT tests: http://■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/) and strategies are available online, too. I must say increasing your ACT score a bit isn’t difficult, but significantly increasing it, definitely is. First, ask yourself if you have a particular strategy? When you open the booklet, what is your game plan? Because there’s a very limited amount of time available to you for each section, you probably do need a strategy (like almost all of the other test takers).
I personally prepared for the ACT by looking at the videos of a Youtuber called Best ACT Prep (link to his account/channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3NcGS4FQDDz0RGAaH3ZG-A), where he explained a lot about how the ACT works and how you could approach each question. For example, in the science section, I left the conflicting viewpoints passage for last, because it requires you to read a lot of unnecessary things, because you’re looking for details here.
As for the ACT Practice Tests, I would recommend taking multiple and reviewing the questions that you got wrong very carefully and writing down why you got those wrong and what you’ll change to not make the same mistake again. Futhermore, I’d advise you to take some practice tests twice. The second time you take the same ACT test, which I would take a few weeks later, is just to check if you actually learned from your mistakes and if you have improved. Frp,
Hopefully I could have been of any help. Good luck with your ACT test(s)!
