I'm a rising high school senior and I took the ACT this march(as part of state testing).
I was very happy with my score, but there was one problem.
I got:
34 Composite
35-Science, 34-Math, 34-Reading, 31-English.
Combined English/Writing Score: 29
Writing: 8

This was the first time I took a real ACT.

I am completely happy with my composite, which I think matters the most, however I have NO idea how I received an 8 on the writing. The last practice test I took I got a 10 and on the SAT i also got a 10(and personally I think the SAT prompts are much harder).

On the two ACT practice tests I took I got a 32 in english on both of them, so I know that I could raise my English subscore to at least a 32 if I study. I think reading and science were about as high as they can get(maybe I could get a 36 in science if it was a really lucky day), and I think that I could probably raise math up to a 35/36.

My question/concern is, will colleges care that my writing score and my english/writing combined score, were so low?

Is it worth it to take the ACT again, even if I most likely couldn't raise the composite score, but have a chance to raise the writing/english score???

PS-I already took the SAT and I do not score even close to as well on it(1960), so I won't be taking it again.
