I recently took the October ACT, and I have no idea what the "good" range for Cornell is. I've already applied ED to college of Arts and Sciences, anybody have any idea???

I think anything less than a 30 composite would place your application in jeopardy and require some significant offsetting factors to gain admission.

The 25-75 percentile range is about 28-32.

I was surprised at that only 28% of kids who got into Cornell took ACT..and like 99% took SAT. I knew SAT would be higer but.. not this much. Is it true that colleges don't really look at an ACT score for someone from the east coast? even if u got like 34~35?

If you get a 34-36 on the ACT, i'm sure no adcom will overlook it... even though almost everyone takes the SATs on the east coast.

u mean midwest and south? I live in jersey and like no one takes ACT around here. 2 people from my shcool took it, including me. I mean if everyone takes it then why is the percentage so low?

ACT--->SAT conversions are as follows. it will give you a better sense of the expected ACT scores at Cornell

36--->1600
35--->1560
34--->1520
33--->1470
32--->1420
31--->1380
30--->1340

from US News rankings site.

ACT Composite ACT English ACT Math

30-36 58.0% 51.0% 54.0%
24-29 38.0% 39.0% 42.0%
18-23 4.0% 9.0% 4.0%

lol, those are such broad ranges.

i live on the east coast and i am sending my ACT scores to all of my schools (that are mostly on the east coast). they arent going to reject you just becuase you took the ACTs

yeah...I'm kind of worried because I've never taken the SAT (and I don't plan to), so ...I'm hoping they don't think less of the ACT just because less of their applicants submit their ACT score.
