Hello I am applying to be a mechanical engineer at Cockrell and I just have a few questions regarding the ACT. I have just taken my first ACT with writing today, however because of UT’s deadline of December 31 for all scores I was wondering if there was any chance that my scores would be counted? I did really poor on my SAT, scoring a 1710, so I’m hoping my SAT in December might be better but I feel confident about the ACT I just took. So if it happened to be a better score compared to my SAT will UT accept it? I already have UT listed as a recipient for my ACT score so when multiple choice scores start coming out on December 22 they might get it. That still brings up a question about the writing section as it’s graded separately and might not be released until much later. So basically I’m worried that I might not be accepted because of my scores and my ACT might be a high enough score to potentially get me into engineering, but the score won’t be accepted. Does anyone know if they will accept it just in case it results in a better score? Also if that were the case and I did not get accepted could I make an appeal about this?
If anyone could help me or provide any information I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
I know this kind of a non-answer, but I suggest finding out who your admissions counselor is and emailing them. They usually respond within the same day.

I don’t think you are going to get an answer unless a current student jumps in to answer and they are probably all swamped with finals and packing to go home. You’ll get the best response if you call. If I had to GUESS, I would say your scores with writing have to be there by December 31 to count.
