I got a 19 on my ACT but i have a good gpa..3.8 weighted and a 3.5 unweighted...do you guys think i can get in? Do you guys know of anybody who has gotten a 19 or lower on their ACT and has gotten in UCF?

For the Fall of 2009, the average ACT was a 26.9. Did you take the SAT? Average UCF SAT is 1225.

You are a bit on the low side regarding the ACT, but other factors go into your acceptance of course. It wouldn’t hurt to apply.

If you really want to live in Orlando and go to UCF, you could always attend Valencia Community College, which is right next door to UCF. I believe anyone with an AA from Valencia is automatically accepted to UCF. Just some food for thought.

It is getting quite difficult to get accepted into UCF has a true freshman. That ACT does seem a little low. Are you a Florida resident? If you are, just go to a community college for two years, save some money, get your AA, then transfer into UCF.

A friend of mine had an ACT score of 21 or so, and didn’t get it although she had a sister who’s currently a junior at UCF.

it sucks that getting into universities now a days is definitely getting harder and harder every year…USF is now not accepting students with an ACT score of 19…if you get a 19 or lower you will automatically get rejected…which really doesnt make any sense cuz i have a really good gpa but im a horrible test taker and yet im getting based just on that 19 on my ACT… idk if UCF boosted up their requirements on their test scores… it really does suck.

Polo and andreina, I would suggest taking the ACT again, 19 is quite low but let me share my personal experience. I got a 23 ACT and did horribly in Math (19), I didn’t send recommendation forms of any kind, my GPA is 3.69 with no Honor Classes as they don’t offer them where I come from, No extracurriculars and poor community work (about 40 hours total). My application was far from exceptional but I wrote the most killer essay I could manage and got accepted. Brag about simple things like how you were in the theater club, how you tutored some kids, anything that for you seems little make it sound like it’s important. Maybe I was just lucky but if you get rejected and you have your heart set on UCF apply for Spring, which is what I did since I missed the Fall deadline. It seems competition for Spring is much less. I wish you both good luck!

Polo - my daughter applied last year with a 20 ACT and graduated valedictorian of her private school. Tons of community service, letters of recommendation, etc and she got rejected. When she spoke to the admissions team they were honest and told her a 20 ACT won’t cut it. Agree with the other suggestions - definitely take the test again - plenty of time; if you’ve already applied, you can keep them informed when you get the higher grade. She ended up at FAU and loves it - growing like crazy and should be a mini-UCF in the next year or so. Would suggest applying at FAU over Univ of North Florida or Florida Gulf Coast (I think this is the easiest to get into as long as you apply early.) Good Luck!
