act scores not received by deadline

I sent my act scores to Illinois and Ohio State along with my application on the 30th. They didn't receive them on the deadline and apparently I'm no longer eligible for priority/early action.

What do?

bump10char

Those are two colleges (Mich is another) that actually expect that scores be there by Nov 1. Obviously, if you are talking about the Oct ACT score, it will likely be too late because scores won"t even be released until mid-Nov. If you mean prior scores, then you do not know yet whether they they were sent on time and you just have to wait to see whether the college confirms or does not confirm that you are an early action applicant. The fact that receipt of your score is not shown yet in your on-line application account does not tell you anything at this time because it can often take a week or even more after its receipt of a score for a college to show its receipt in your account

If it shows up late, am I still screwed?

Also, are RD applicants treated the same way as deferred EA applicants at Ohio State and Illinois?

Maybe this might not such a bad deal since I would have likely been deferred at Illinois (I’m borderline and applying Engineering)

[url=<a href=“Apply - The Ohio State University”>Apply - The Ohio State University]Applying for admission](<a href=“Apply - The Ohio State University”>Apply - The Ohio State University)

On both these pages, it says that supporting materials only need to be “submitted,” not received, by Nov. 1st to be eligible for early action. Even if it is university policy that they need to receive supporting materials by Nov. 1, would this be enough evidence for me to get the admissions office to give me EA status?

Why don’t you do something radical?

Call them on the telephone.

There’s no need to be so sarcastic. I have already been emailing both colleges.

Anyways, Illinois got my test scores and I’m eligible for priority decision. Ohio State still doesn’t and they haven’t been responding to my emails (keep in mind that I sent them over the weekend)

RD applicants will not face the same issues. Illinois provides that it wants supporting materials such as test scores in its hands by Jan 12 for RD (which is after its Jan 2 application deadline. OSU wants them sent by the Feb 1 app deadline. Then for RD both of those colleges always give you a second chance. If by third week of Jan for UIUC or mid-February for OSU, the college does not have something required for RD application, it sends you notice of what is missing and tells you to send it promptly if you want to be considered for admission. That is a typical RD practice for most colleges.

Sorry for the sarcasm but often, in a situation like this, a telephone call is much mor efficient than a long line of emails back and forth. Sincerely, call OSU. I think you’ll get your answer promptly
