ACT scores

If you apply for a music performance major, would a 25 on the ACT totally cut your chances?

it would depend on the rest of your application. And your skill I suppose maybe? Like if you're super-talented, then you're good. and if you compensate with really good GPA, super-dedicated, etc....you could have a shot. It's not "so-horribly-low-im-never-getting-in" low, but yeah...you need to back it up with something I would assume.

25 is way to low. I believe the class of 2005-2006 average was around 29 or 30. I would definately retake. When is regular decision deadline?

that's the thing, though ,it WAS my retake. i got a 24 originally, and woohoo, raised it a point. but i'm within the top 12% of my class, idk why i suck so bad at standardized tests :-'(

Have you tried the SAT? Maybe it's more your thing?

And don't sweat it too much. Standardized testing just isn't the best for some people, and like the above poster said, as long as you have the grades and talent to back yourself up, that shouldn't be a huuuuge issue. Remember, the averages are averages for a reason!
