ACT Scores

At what score should someone stop retaking the ACT for Stanford? in other words, what score makes someone "competitive" and "eligible" for Stanford? assuming classes, GPA, ECs, essays, recs, etc. are great...
Thanks

i would think 34 youd be fine and your score would not in any way set you back. i also got a 34 so maybe im being optimistic?

34, but anything higher is obviously better. I would definitely stop at a 35, unless you really care about that 36.

kk, i shall work for that 34…

30-32 is the minimum UNLESS you have some AMAZING ability/accomplisment or are a minority/legacy
33 is ok
34 is good
35 is great
HOWEVER
Stanford places a relatively low emphasis on ACT/SAT scores (when compared to other top colleges)

good luck!

yea id say 34

yeah, i got a 32 the first time with minimum prep…so hopefully these next 3 weeks of prep will give me that 34

Haha, I got a 30, but then again, I’m URM, so I’m not sure how my scores apply.

I got a 35 with no prep at all whatsoever. Just showed up at school and took it with all the other juniors. It was much easier than the SAT, for which I dedicated an entire month of studying and only got a 2190. I did send both scores to Stanford, though.
I’m not a URM, and I did get in. Just in case that helps!

^You sound eerily similar to me. Although I didn’t take the SAT (I probably would have gotten a very similar score, as indicated by my PSAT).

By any chance, do you consider yourself to have a relatively poor vocabulary? Because that is what prevented me from taking the SAT, but it really isn’t factored into the ACT test structure.

^ Actually, not at all. I am a very prolific reader, and as such have an enormous vocabulary. lol. But, to avoid boasting, I will admit that I’m terrible at math. Except for the last ~10 questions, the ACT math (I got a 32 on the math section) was much much easier than the SAT math. The grid-in questions on the SAT math were super hard. But my English scores were very high on the SAT as well as the ACT.
It is odd, though. Now that you mention it, the SAT definitely did put a much heavier emphasis on vocabulary than the ACT did. The ACT instead asked a lot of moronic passage comprehension questions.
What was your PSAT? I don’t remember what I got, but it made me an NM finalist. lol.

^I was off qualifying for NMSF by a point. In some states I would have made it. I pretty much just had a bad test day, and missed some really easy questions. I was overthinking a lot :(
