ACT Section Scores

since colleges recieve your individual scores from each section of the test, if applying to a certain school within a university for instance the engineering school, will they place more emphasis on some sections and less on others? In engineering for instance would they place more emphasis on your math and science scores? I want to study IR and I'm applying to the SFS at georgetown and Elliot School of International Affairs at GWU. I'm wondering if these schools, since they are for particular majors, would employ such a system of looking at scores?
From my practice ACT tests I think I can score a 34-36 on the english, CR and science sections of the ACT, but I suspect maths (my worst subject) will pull me down. I'm doing the IB diploma and take SL maths (not maths studies) so we do learn advanced maths and if I study a lot I think I'll do alright, but not in the same range as my other scores. How much will it effect my chances if I get 35s or 36s and then say a 28 for maths?

Yes, the subscores will be taken into account.
