ACT Self Study Schedule Help

So today in the mail I received 7 items to help me prep for the ACT (all that i plan to buy unless something is recommended that looks helpful). I got:

  • Up your score ACT underground guide
  • The real ACT guide
    -Princeton Review 1296 ACT
  • ACT black book
    -PR act premium
-Barron ACT 36 and Barron flashcards

I plan to take the test in september as a junior and i need some help coming up with ideas for a self study schedule. Does anyone have experience with these books that could recommend certain sections or strategies? Any books i should return or should purchase in addition to what I have? Could someone who has taken the ACT and done well give me some tips because the amount of books is overwhelming but I want to score well (33+ hopefully)

ANY AND ALL HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED
Thanks!

The best practice is real simulation exams. Take advantage of every released ACT exams – search “ACT released exams #”. Practice with your ACT prep book side by side.

I took a simulation exam every day during August in summer, and got a 35 this past September. Anyone can do it with consistency, persistence, and will.

Do you have any books or classes you recommend or is what I have what you would recommend

I made a schedule for each day, focusing on at least 1 practice test a week. For example, if you want your week to start Sunday:

  • Sunday: English
  • Monday: Math
    -Tuesday: Science
    -Wednesday: Reading
    -Thursday: Writing
    -Friday: General Overview
  • Saturday: Practice Test

If you spend at least 30-45 minutes a day on a section, it will benefit you. Make sure you take the practice tests as you would the regular test. When you get questions wrong, make sure you analyze them to understand why you got them wrong. If you just keep doing tests and getting stuff wrong without understanding it, then you will not improve. Also take a look at some of the major threads in this forum. A lot of people have written about how they managed to get perfect scores. Their strategies are very useful.

Thank you southern belle! i am thinking a plan like that might be most helpful for me. And i have been looking around but am yet to find someones studying schedule that works

No problem! I think the key is making your own study schedule. Don’t worry about anyone else’s study schedule. I would just search the forum for tips and strategies to use DURING the test. It can be different going from a practice test to the actual thing. Time is what gets people tripped up most of the time.
