ACT Sept 2012 MATH

Lol, just a thought, hopefully unbiased: why would it be necessary to note distinct pair? Are the test makers concerned that u will count some pair n,n twice? Thus it would be more logical to ask distinct integer pair.

5 is not right you can not assume that. The d was right something about if x worked on friday then x did not work on Saturday. I know what you say sounds right, but what if there is a case when a employ is off on saturday and friday.

Ahh okay. I dont remember the wording of the question.
I know I got 2 wrong so far in the math. the log question and the m+n

we learned those problems in geometry. If that statement is if x, then y. Then another true statement is if not y, then not x.

@jlee98
That makes more sense. The word distinct was in the question and the way you worded it is probably the most similar to the actual question.

Does anyone know the answer to the question where the 6-8-10 triangle was in a circle - was the radius 5?

^^ i believe it is 5

Q: Average of how many people attended home games
A: 30000

Q: Avg rate of change in games won?
A: 2

Q: Biggest drop in years
A: 2002

Q: (6x^2+5x-4)/3x+4)
A: 2x-1

Q: Cone volume of 1.5 Diameter
A: 1.8

Q: Cosecant of the triangle w/ hypotenuse 4root26
A: root26/5

Q: How many took spanish or something like that
A: 3

Think about it logically. @nd1290.
If it wanted distinct integers, it would ask for distinct integers.

It was asking for distinct pairs, in other words
if N=4 and M=3 it would be the same as N=3 and M=4
At the point in which the ACT doesn’t specify it wants DISTINCT INTEGERS, 1 is the answer.
Me and a few of my friends all put 1 because of the wording of the question. Again, if it wanted it distinct integers, that’s what it would ask for … but it wanted distinct pairs.

Anywho, any thoughts about the curve?

ok hold on now. we have some rapacious people here. the MN problem said DISTINCT pairs, not numbers!!!so answer was 1. (2,2)

^yes, right triangle inscribed in circle, hypotenuse is dia= 10, radius = 5

Read this in everyday cases the inverse and converse do not alway work. http://www2.edc.org/makingmath/mathtools/conditional/conditional.asp

I can confirm the 30000, also 2 was the avg change in games won

and 2002 was the year with the biggest drop in losses than the year before, can anyone confirm

what was answer to spanish class vs chem vs calculus, how many of the spanish students NOT or something?

3 i think it was, or whatever the number that wasnt included with another circle

We have to agree that they said distinct pairs b/c otherwise (if they didn’t) then there would be discrepancies in the test answers. Assuming they only said the word “distinct” once in the question, that distinct is the only one that makes sense.

yes maiden

that one was confusing coffee… answer seemed to obvious, but i still chosei t. was the answer just the number not in chem or calculus bubbles (it was like 5 or 6)

cool,i rushed through the test really quickly ,yea,it was confusing…

It wasn’t the volume of a cone, it was the volume of a sphere having DIAMETER 1.5, so the radius would be 0.75.

Please post questions if you are sure of the wording.
