<p>I was on track to being prepared, then I had to do a ton of summer assignments for my senior year. I’m taking my first practice test in about 3 weeks tomorrow morning, and I plan to take 3-4 more before the 10th. </p>

<p>i’m taking the PR 1296 test tomorrow, and i’ll be taking 2 of the “Real ACT” tests from the RED book. I’ve also got ACT 36: aiming for the perfect score, which i’ll read cover to cover before the 10th. </p>
<p>Advice: get ACT prep books from the library. if the answers are filled in, fill in everything or erase the pencil marks so that you aren’t inclined towards any particular answer. the only book i own is “Barron’s ACT 36.”</p>
<p>I’ve prepped during the latter half of the summer with the use of PR’s Cracking, 1296, and the Red Book. I plan on doing the rest of my Red Book and 1296 tests these last two weeks.</p>
<p>I feel adequately prepared. I have all my timings down and all I have to do is study several math topics. </p>
<p>I’m aiming for at least a 33, but I’ve been getting consistent 30s on the 1296 tests. However, people generally consider it to be a harder book than the actual ACT, so hopefully my actual score is much higher.</p>
<p>I definitely know I have the ability to score in the mid to high 30s for English and reading on 1296, but the science section mainly drags my score down.</p>
<p>Grrrrr, i basicallyhave not improved whatsoever in math and reading. The good note is that I’ve risen 4 points in english and 4 points in science</p>

<p>I’ve been using PR the last few weeks, and will take 2 practice tests this week ( using PR and the Red Book). The goal is to take it in September, get the true feel, and also take it in October as well…</p>
<p>Hi, I turned 13 a month ago and received a score of 31 on the math. Is this good for my age? what can I do to improve?</p>
<p>i feel i am a little bit behind. i’m reading the real act book and doing some tests. i’ve also got two other short books that are meant to prepare you in a week or so before the test.</p>
<p>PurePhysics, for 13 years old a 31 on the ACT is very good… Equivalent to about 2000 or so on the SAT… Just continue taking practice tests, and learn from your mistakes, and you can easily get a perfect score in a few years.</p>
<p>I just took the 3rd test in PR’s 1296 and got a 28 :J. 30 on reading, 28 on math, 28 on english, and a 26 on science! I’m not upset with my score as I’m aiming for anything over a 28, though I believe I’m capable of exceeding 32. I’ll be learning from my mistakes in math which should help me get some points back in the future, but my science score generally breaks 30 so i’m a little discouraged by my 26. </p>
<p>I hear the 1296 is a bit harder than the real act, but is that true for all parts? I felt that the science section seemed different than the past tests i’ve taken in McGraw Hill’s, and Ill be taking 2 of the 3 tests in the Real ACT Red book, so i’ll be able to judge my scores better based off that.</p>
<p>does anybody have an experience taking the 3rd test in the 1296?</p>
<p>i feel ready. I’m confident about getting 35+ in Math and reading, and hopefully 33+ in english and science.</p>

I have taken the 3rd test, and I believe it is 1-2 pts harder than the actual ACT. I suggest you spend these last few weeks taking actual ACT tests and timing yourself. Use the Red Book and if you feel like you need more tests, go online and look up “Preparing for the ACT” and download all three versions the ACT has released.</p>

What is your strategy for the reading section? I’m having trouble deciding whether to read the questions first or not and determining how long and how in-depth I should read each passage. On average from my practice tests, my Reading score has been a 33-34 and I’d like to bring it up to a 35-36. Thanks in advance.</p>
<p>@askshayp I read the passage first. I read it a bit slow, taking special care to take in as much information as possible. Then, when I get to the questions, I’m able to answer at least 5 of them in less than 2 minutes without having to go back to the passage once.</p>
<p>I have a question. Are there tangents and secant questions in a circle on the act? Like the question wth major and minor arcs and yiu have to subtract them and multiply by .5? It was on the barrons book, but I heard that the barrons is overprep. Also are there mean proportional questions? I suck at those. I am good at math; however, I am pretty weak in geometry. In the barrons normal ACT book I get 31’s-32’s on math. I am aiming for a 35-36 in math</p>

<p>The ACT covers plane geometry so its definitely possible that could come up.</p>
<p>Been studying since July (on the train to and from my Internship) and then I began to take full length practices in August. I’ve taken six so far and am taking my final one tomorrow- the last RACT I have.</p>

<p>Just started studying today. When I took it in April (scored a 31) the actual test was easier than the practice tests I took from PR and the Red Book.</p>
<p>Took the last one in June without studying, scored a 29composite, 28 English, 32Math, 27 Reading, 30 Science…</p>
<p>Gotta love Reading and grammar-____- (Same things are screwing me over on SAT)</p>
<p>however I took a practice test from the red book today and my scores actually went down…not a good sign a week before the test…</p>
<p>Also, the PR 1296 book science is crazy, the real ACT is nothing like that. Math and reading I find them to be close to actual test, English is slightly harder i think.</p>
<p>OMG! I have no idea how I let myself get this behind. I took the test in April and got a 31 (E=34, M=30:(, R=34, sttttuupid science=27), and then planned to study so much this summer, but never seemed to have time. Now I have 6 days to cram! </p>
<p>I took a Barron’s test yesterday and got a 29:(-my english and reading both dropped a bit and my science and math stayed the same. and today I took one out of the redbook and got a 31(my english and reading came down one but my math went up.). I am not sure what this means, but in my head, this means i need to work super hard! I am going to take two more this weekend! </p>
