ACT strategies...

I went through all the problems in the real prep guide..

and my score didn't improve much.. (not at all in some of the sections..)

I'm I doing something wrong??

I just solve the problems and corrected it and read over the explantations of

each answer choices..

I think I need some sort of strategies..

can someone tell me how you prepared for the ACT.. (for each section..)

some people say it is English is mostly about strategies and reading is time..

I need more detailed strategies..

thank you..

It's not so much as "strategies" that will just give you improved scores, jungjh9001. The ACT most particularly, doesn't do that. For example, in the English section, you have 45 minutes to answer 70 questions. Well, the OBVIOUS strategy here is to pace yourself VERY EFFICIENTLY and answer all the questions given in the given time of 45 minutes. That's about 30 second per question.

You might have to buy some ACT test prep books and keep practicing with the practice tests. Pace yourself. Diversify your prep methods. Ask yourself "what am I doing wrong?". Remember, there is no magic formula, but in the ACT test with so many questions given in such a short amount of time, time is of the essence.

That's my advice.

You need to take practice tests in their entirety under the time restrictions for the best practice possible. For me at least, the ACT questions on their own are easy, but it's the time restraints that really make the test difficult. Simulate the test atmosphere as much as possible.

i think the major difference between SAT and ACT is that the ACT tests what you know rather than how well you are able to use strategies (my opinion..)

so what i did was took a couple of practice tests to pinpoint my problems (some nitty-bitty grammar here and there and some weird math problems) and DRILLED.

as for the second part of the test, reading and science are basically a race. that just comes with practice.

^ ditto!

The SAT is just practice, memorize, and learn, etc... gosh -_-;; I hate CB
