ACT Submit

Question here. Top 5%, great high school, APs, rigor, 4 year varsity athlete, tons of ECs and volunteer hours. All APs senior year …From Texas. Would you submit a 32 ACT? I know it’s on the low side, but I have to think they’ll think worse if I don’t submit it? Also, I think my essays are strong and have been told same by my counselor.

Collegevine’s chancing engine claims to have information about prob of TO vs a particular ACT score per school, presumably based on their customers’ info from last year.

Major??

Two schools of thought. For the overall school it’s within the low end of the range so I likely would unless it’s a top student major like engineering.

My thought is it’s always better to submit than not in that they’ll see you are legit!! If you don’t submit they might think you are a 25.

Others say only submit if it’s a 75th percentile.

It’s really up to you. My daughter submitted to 20 of 21. To her, she was proud of her 32. She went TO to Rice. Rejected. Would it have been different if she submitted. Doubtful but you’ll never know.

I’d probably submit if you are non STEM and not if STEM but it’s really a borderline call and you’ll never know of it was right or not. If you get in, did it help ? If you don’t, did it hurt ? No one will know.

32, and the 1420 SAT equivalent, is pretty much the center of the 25-75% range. I’d probably go ahead and submit it.

Yes… LSA is 32-35 and engineering is 34…avg…both with basically 3.9 unweighted. Write a great essay. Pro Hint for Michigan… It’s always better to send a solid score then not. 32 is a great score and better then them trying to guess. Back that up with rigor and GPA. If your taking all Aps senior year they will want to see those grades through midterm if not accepted EA… Many get deferred. Sorta a normal thing there… Good Luck.

Thank you so much everyone. Major is biology. I think essays are refreshing and different perspective coming from South - it is all a guessing game and they might like or not, but scores and GPA are solid enough to at least stand up. It is a totally different game down here in Texas when we know we are auto admit to UT Austin. But Michigan sure would be a nice change of pace!

Depends on your sub-scores. If you have high Math/Sci scores, go ahead and submit.
