ACT test center

Is anyone from New York planning to take the ACT in Maryland in september? What's the closest test center from New York?

If you live in New York, why are you taking it out of state?

Only certain states offer the ACT in september; NY doesnt. The closest state that I could take it at is maryland. I want to take the test twice before the early decision deadline

And you're willing to go to Maryland to do that?

Well, from what ive heard, it's a couple of hours drive, and, i guess, an overnight stay, so why not? If i get the score I want in september, it gives me a stress free october.

Use this site to find the test centers for the locations & dates you're interested in. My son took his ACT in the spring of his junior year & was happy enough with his scores that he's not bothering with any retakes; haven't heard of many folks who are retaking ACTs.

Thanks HImom. I was hoping somebody who has driven to Maryland might have some suggestion as to which test center is easiest and fastest to get to from New York. I guess I'll resort to the long way, looking up the test centers on the map. Living in New York, I havent heard much about how people take the ACT. I prepared for it and was planning on taking it like the SAT (most ppl take that more than once). And the science section on the ACT seems to vary considerably in difficulty (I havent taken physics yet, so physics passages are more difficult for me than, say, bio passages).

Well, it all depends on your ability to get to Maryland and back, during the school week. Also, if you are hesistant and are not thoroughly prepped, you should take it in Octobor. Nevertheless, if you can go to MD, you should take it. As you know, you are allowed to regulate the scores sent to colleges. Good luck!!!
