What happens if my daughter fights the ACT threat to cancel her scores if she doesn't take it over. She took the test the first time and got 21 and the second time got 15. They are accusing her of cheating saying that she erased too many times on the answer sheet. If she has already been accepted to college and cleared by NCAA to play basketball what happens to the scholarship if they cancel her score of 21 after she has already started college in August?

how can they say she cheated when the second time she got a lower score? I would for sure fight for her first ACT score cause there may be a possibility that she messed up her 2nd time, ran out of time, or something just went wrong. Be sure to keep that score of 21 you don’t want to risk losing the scholarship. Maybe they will let her retake the 15 or something? (not that it should make a difference considering she has already been accepted)

My daughter received a ltr from ACT last week thursday August 2nd, (school starts on August 20th), ACT basically saying that she cheated and the only way to resolve the issure is to retest (retested today), write a letter to the East Providence Rhode Island office of the American Arbitration Association (no address was listed on the ACT) website. She scored 14 on her first test, second test 20 & third test was taken today, she has been accepted into college on (academic/athletic) schlorships! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed if she doesn’t pass the test taken today? I think that they should be sued for waiting until the last minute and pull the rug on a childs educational dreams! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU!

klove-
Email the coach.
You are not the first case of this and they will tell you how to proceed.

klove and peaches 6840,
HELP! Whatever happened with your cases. We are going thru the exact same thing right now. My daughter was diagnosed with ADD her senior year in high school. After being put on medication she scored remarkedly better the second time (and year later). But now is being accused of cheating. Sent documentation from us, school and doctor but they are still standing their ground.

Those posters only ever posted once over a year ago, so it is unlikely they are around. If you PM them (you need 15 posts to do so, I think) it will cause an email to be sent and maybe they will reply.

I’d contact the arbitration assoc mentioned above, and also prepare to retest.

I did not know such thing can happen! That’s scary that ACT can make this assumption. How did they come to this conclusion? Did the proctor at the testing site filed a complaint?

This is Klovestx3, i received your email earlier today and am sorry i couldnt remember my password to respond until i set up a new one.
My daughter ended up retaking the ACT for the third time and got a 23! Thank God!! So she went off to college and played her freshman year. Unfortunately, she was injured over the summer and required surgery, so she is sitting out her sophmore year, but she remains on scholarship. (Good is Good!)I pray that your daughter does well on the recent test and everything will work out. It is such a frustrating process and I feel for you because I went through the same thing. Take care…
