ACT threshold at Ivey

My son got a 34 on his second ACT (first was 33). Considering only that one element, is he in the mix for Harvard, Princeton or Columbia or should he not even think at that level. He just took SAT IIs yesterday. Thanks for for thoughts.

34 ACT = 2260-2330 SAT. He's definitely in the running, if the rest of his app is competitive. If you're curious to where he stands, go to the "What Are My Chances?" board.

I hope you realize the absurdity of your question. A 34 is in the 99th percentile so your question suggests that less than one percent of all the ACT test takers should not even THINK about getting into Harvard/Princeton/Columbia. Dreams don't exist?

I live in New York. I project an act score of 34. Will I be hurt since I didn't take the SAT.

Here's some hope: I got into Harvard with a 34.

How was everything else? Where did you live? The SAT is quite popular in NY.

A 34 is a 99+th percentile score.

The aggregate number of students who score that high is smaller than the aggregate size of the entering classes at the eight Ivy League colleges, so your child is definitely in the running with a score like that. Many other issues besides test scores are important for college admission, so work on all those with hope in your heart, and then apply and see what happens.

Good luck in application season.

some guy i know from my school got in this year with a 32.
