Hey guys as an international(I.B) student the ACT test was basically extinct.
However, someone told me that i should try look into the ACT when i recieved my mediocre SAT score (1860)-(580CR 660M 620W).
I devoted my 2 month for the SAT exam so i see no reason why cant do the same for the ACT.

HERE IS THE MAIN PROBLEM:

im now turning senior after this summer holiday-sigh..- and I found out that there are the ACT exam on October 25th,December 12th and so on. The only problem is that i have an important school trip on October 25th-which im willing to cancel for the ACT even though the money's been paid already.
Im still confused about how the deadline works in my school but as a senior can i still take the December 12th or even the Feburary exam?-Or is it too late?

You can go to your trip and take it the next saturday (If I remeber right), but you gotta pay a little more (again not sure). and crunk's right, take it in september (you can drive to another state and take it if it's not available in your state). And if you're IB, don't you have to take the IB exam anyhow so you don't need to take ACT?

Check at actstudent.org to make sure what I said was right.

Wow... im hearing alot of new things. Firstly, the thing is i live in a tiny island called Singapore so driving to another state(Cali) is not an option. haha.
Secondly, i didnt know that students taking the IB exam dont have to take the ACT-let me check on this.

You can see that Im really new to this ACT thing. All my life i thought SAT was the key to college...

-- not sure if you can switch to another date (i.e. next saturday, but it's worth a try by calling them).

I'm in pre-IB, and from what I heard, as long as you pass the IB exam with a good score, you can get into colleges that accept IB deplomas (look into that, I don't want you to mess up because I said something)

Hey, i think both of us know how challenging the IB package is. If i manage to pull 38 points out of 45, do you think ACT is a big concern?

Anyhow, the main reason Im planning to do the ACT test is cause i couldnt break 2000 for the SAT and im really wanna go to Northwestern or Georgetown.
Although, im taking it again for October-that is, its my final exam- i want to be sure i've used all my chances.

Plus, i heard that if you score above 30-36, you dont have to take seperate SAT 2s?

The IB test should be enough, I should hope, I would take the ACT as a "back up" plan just in case- A lot of CCers says it's easier than the SATs. northwestern: 29-33 on ACT, and georgetown is around the same range. Pretty easy for us, btw, you never have to the SATs, All 4 year colleges accept the ACT w/ writing now.

The ACT isn't given every weekend. The next test date is in December. Whether that's too late depends on what schools you're applying to. You should check with each school. Keep in mind international scores take longer to get back.

Take a lot of ACT practice tests if you are an international. The ACT requires speed-reading to do well, and speed-reading is difficult enough for those kids whose native language is english.
