ACT v SAT: Which do Colleges "like" better?

Hello everyone. I am a Senior (just finished junior year) in highschool.

For one reason or another I cannot seem to get good scores on the SAT I. I have an unweighted GPA of 4.0 and am in approx ranked 2 out of 215 in my class. SAT II grades are US-710 Bio-M-780 Math II-790. I also received a 32 composite on the ACT. I took the SAT in May and got a 1940 (CR-600, M-730, W-610), which is apparently low compared my other stats. Practice tests have gone better but not as high as i would like them to be.

Thus my questions: Do colleges prefer either test (ACT v SAT) over the other? Is it looked down upon if I only submit my ACT?

Thanks

PS: any ideas on why i suck at the SATs?

If they take both, they really don’t care which one you submit. It doesn’t matter.

With your other stats you should be able to raise your scores…what about taking an SAT class?

I’ve asked the same question to college admissions people at many different schools and they all said that it doesn’t matter. I would submit just the ACT score because a 32 is a great score and I believe it puts you in the 99th percentile! A 1940 is also a good score, but with studying I’m sure you could improve. The 32 is for sure the stronger score though.

Sending your SAT II’s automatically sends your SAT I score(s), so colleges will see both your ACT and SAT if you decide to send your SAT II’s.
