Anybody who has taken the ACT before, list what you think the curve will be for the June sitting.

@act34 how many times have you taken the ACT? Just wondering… Completely off topic

1st time on the 9th.

I’m thinking

Overall, I thought English was average so I gave it an average curve. I thought Math was easier than my past two tests so I gave it a rather tougher curve with -1 being a 35. I gave Reading a brutal -1=34 curve because I thought it was fairly straightforward this year. I was more lenient with Science because it had a somewhat difficult section with gamma ray blocking and the “arguing scientists” section was loaded with facts and took a decent amount of time. There was also a question dealing with pH that may have required some outside information if one hadn’t yet taken chemistry. If you would like me to go lower with any of the curves just say the word.

I agree for the most part. I don’t think Reading will have a brutal curve. I thought it was about average.

-1 is 36 for English on average?

Sometimes -1=35 sometimes -1=36. It can vary and it’s just a gut prediction. vladf22 hopefully not regarding reading, but you never know… I got snubbed out of a 36 on my second school administered practice ACT by that very same curve so it’s definitely possible. Fingers crossed though.

how did you think science was ratmkino? You gave it a pretty sweet curve too I noticed.

^ I like that one

I thought the science was largely easy tbh. I think they required a little too much outside knowledge though on this one. That’s why I made the curve a bit generous.
However, I didn’t do perfectly on it. This was my first real ACT and I couldn’t silence my stopwatch beforehand so I couldn’t use it. I didn’t manage my time well and had to make quick guesses on the last passage so I probaby didn’t get a 36.

Ouch, you guys are all giving reading a harsh curve it seems. I got 2-5 wrong, most likely 3 or 4. I was hoping for a 34 with 3-4 wrong :(

Science is never as good as you guys say.

Everyone feel free to contribute your predictions. The more, the better.

If science has a nice curve I’m looking at a sure fire 36. It seemed really, really easy this time.

I think the curves will be something like this:

I gave Math a generous curve because I’ve hit 36 on the section for my last two tests, and this time I missed at least three questions. It was extraordinarily tricky and time-consuming, but it wasn’t necessarily hard, so it’ll be interesting. English is rarely -1 for 36, so I went with the standard -2 for 35. Reading and Science are always toss-ups.

I don’t know about curving specifics, but I would say that the English was slightly more difficult than usual, I believe I got a few wrong. I found the math easier, because it involved more trig than elementary math, which would benefit those who haven’t taken courses like geometry and below since middle school. The writing was average, or even better than average, and the science was about average as well ( though I had just taken a chem and physics final so my prior knowledge was up to snuff.)
