ACT vs SAT for 2007

Hey,

I'm going to be a senior and prepping for the tedious admissions process. The main schools I'm looking at right now is Mit/Columbia/Yale (as my reaches). My question is whether I should submit my ACT, SAT + SATII's, or both.

I know that Columbia takes whichever one is "higher". Yale takes SAT + 3 SAT2's, or just ACT. Here are my scores:

SAT:

780 Verbal
780 WRiting + 12 Essay
790 Math
2350 Total (took it once)

ACT:

34 English
35 Reading
35 Math
35 Science
34 Reading/WRiting Composite (11 writing)
35 <- Total Composite

So what's the verdict? Submit both or just one. Especially for Yale, I've only taken 1 SAT 2 so far (math2c- 800) and don't really wanna have to take 2 more for Yale. Are my ACT's comparable to my SAT scores? Thanks in advance.

The ACT is increasingly marginal for elite Northeast schools. Your SATs are certainly good enough for Columbia. Go with the latter.

When you say "increasingly marginal", what do you mean by that? Should I submit the SAT instead of the ACT, even if my ACT scores are (slightly) higher?

I don't see why you wouldn't do both. But the SAT is a nationwide standard of measurement, while the ACT has become more of a regional test. Columbia places a high emphasis on the SAT IIs especially, so you should not under any circumstances fail to send in all your SAT scores, regardless of what you do with the ACT.
