act vs sat for the BIG ones

okay, so i know that, technically, on all of the ivy league admissions websites...it says you can submit the act or sat. no big.
but then, i've been reading other places that they actually reallyy prefer the sat and that the act is looked down upon for some reason...
so, for schools like columbia (no score choice), if i have a score of 2240 on the sat (pretty average in their applicant pool), but a 35 on the act...will they be weighting my lesser sat score as more important?
i only took the sat once and the act twice...i wasn't planning on taking either reasoning test again. i'm very happy with my 35. :) but columbia will obviously still see my sat reasoning score because i need the college board to send subject tests. i was under the impression that this wouldn't be a big deal...if the admissions office saw both, they would just take the higher act and use that in my profile.
but, now i'm kind of worried about this whole act vs. sat thing and the potential impact it could have on my application...
any thoughts? experiences? etc?

Don’t worry, they have no preference, a 35 is a very strong score.
