I’m planning on applying to MIT this year, and I was wondering which of my test scores I should send.
ACT Score: 35 C (36 M, 36 E, 36 R, 33 S, 29 Essay)
New SAT Score: 1560 (790 M, 770 R&W, Perfect 24/24 essay)
I was thinking that the ACT might be slightly better, but my essay score on the SAT is much higher as well. So which of these scores should I send? Or should I send both? My subject test scores are a 790 math II and 760 physics if that helps either.
It’s fine, I would say that I basically just used the test prep books that were provided straight from the testing companies (i.e. the real act prep guide and whatever collegeboard’s released book is). I also felt that the Khan Academy has a lot of good extra practice sections for free (be warned the FULL practice tests on khan academy are the same ones in the collegeboard book). More than anything, just keep practicing and doing more problems. Hope that helps!
Neither set will keep you out of MIT. Figure out which to send (send both if you have any doubt) and focus on the other aspects of your application now. Well done, and good luck to you!
I don’t see what the problem of sending both would be. This way they could see that you’re able to do well on two different types of intellectual exams.
@runna67 I would certainly send the ACT no question. You have a perfect math score, which is important to MIT, and a solid science score. They could care less what your essay is, it’s MIT. You’re not applying to a liberal arts college.
