i remember reading a little while ago about someone saything that sending the ACT could hinder the possibility of getting into cornell.is that trueeeee? i just sent my ACT to cornell because my SAT scores were horrendous, will that be held against mee

Not that I have ever heard of. Both exams are accepted and if you can do better on one than the other.......send your best. Good Luck

No, I seriously doubt it. They are using the standardized test scores to compare your ability with the ability of students across the country, and they are perfectly capable of doing that with the ACT

thanks that makes me feel better...i got a 30 on the ACT..do any of you know the average accepted ACT score?!?

what if you sent both, and one was slightly better?
i have a 1430 sat
and a 33 act (which is supposedly like a 1470)

how do they look at that?

don't the sat and act measure different things though? like sat measures aptitude and critical thinking whereas act only measures how much you've learned in school. i would think that colleges know that acts are easier and would rather see scores that measure your ability to do well in college. but cornell isn't too big on standardized tests i hear...they say that by looking at scores only, about 80% of the applicants are qualified but it's the essays and stuff that really narrows people down.

I would have to dissagree. Both scores together would complement each other nicely.

They don't measure aptitude or anything. You can prepare for either test as much or as little as you'd like.

i'm in a similar position, with a 33 ACT and 1400 SAT (but I retook and Saturday and think I earned 1450+)

I sent both. Not like I had much of a choice though. I got 800 in Math IIC, 770 US History, 720 Chem. Decent enough results where I would like for the school to see them.
