ACT vs. SAT

I know the vast majority of colleges accept both SAT and ACT. The ACT, however, has 5 sections (including writing), while the SAT only has 3 (including writing). Does this in any way affect the way colleges look at the results of each test?

I know both tests are pretty much the same length. It seems like most students would be better fitted to take a certain test.

Please move this to the right section :)

The SAT is obviously longer. No, they look the same. Plus the SAT has 10.
