ACT vs SAT

Stanford requires students to send all scores.

I scored a 2100 on my first SAT and a 35 on my first ACT.
I also have a 800 Math II and 760 Physics for SAT 2s.

Since I have to send both these in, will they look down upon my 2100 SAT? (I hate the SAT, so I am strongly opposing a retake)

Should I suck it up and retake it? Or is it not worth the time attempting a 2200+

In my opinion, taking the SAT again and raising your score would really help. Sorry.

Yeah I guess that’s what I was thinking… :(

To be honest, when you sent score to the top schools, there is a big difference between 2100 and 2300-2400. <a href=“Stanford University: Acceptance Rate, SAT/ACT Scores, GPA”>http://collegeapps.about.com/od/GPA-SAT-ACT-Graphs/ss/stanford-admission-gpa-sat-act.htm</a> this chart show that even in the 2200 range can get rejected.

I understand what you’re saying, but not sure if this accounts for students with 2100 and then 35 ACT, its just looking at those scores individually.

But, yeah, smart thing would be to attempt SAT one more time.

Why isn’t OP fine with a 35 ACT? That’s a great score. Don’t many schools look at your higher score? It’s been shown that some students do better on one test than the other.

That’s what I’m asking. I just want to know for sure if they will look at the higher one only, to make sure the relatively low SAT brings down my application. @bodangles‌

I actually think they would basically ignore your 2100. The 35 ACT looks really good.

I actually hope that is the case to save myself some time. Thanks @guccigirl‌ . I will never know for sure unless I ask an admissions officer that myself.

I’m fairly certain they’d ignore the 2100 and simply look at the 35, there’s really no point for you to take the SAT again unless you’d like the comfort of sending in a higher score.

If your ACT is 35 then it converts to 2330 (range 2290-2370) on SAT according to ACT converter (ACT organization)
…so you need NOT have to retake SAT if you don’t want to…

Our D was accepted with a 34 ACT and a 1850 SAT. She took the SAT once her first year of high school and decided just to focus on the ACT, which she liked better. She graduated Stanford in 2013. I would say no to the SAT.
