So I'm a high school junior looking at schools like Penn and Harvard. I have a flawless transcript and a 2110 on SATs and a 34 on ACTs. I am without a doubt applying early to Penn, and I was wondering- with the new score choice (which Penn can't control, as in I can not send my SAT score) should I just send my ACT (converts to a 2310) score or my SAT score too? Will the SAT hurt? Will sending just ACTs lower my chances of getting in or do they not base their decision off SATs vs. ACTs sent scores? Furthermore, these isn't any way that Penn can find out that I didn't send my 2110, right?

Both are great scores, but the 34 is obviously better. Personally, i would send in just the 34 because i don’t think the SAT score will help you unless they highly prefer SAT scores or something. If it helps, i applied to Notre Dame this year and only sent in my ACT score of 34 and was accepted.

17% of all Penn acceptances last year were from students who sent ACT only. That’s a good portion, right?

If it makes you feel better, you can just sent your ACT score. However, sending your SAT is not going to hurt your application.

Penn is one of the colleges that has declared that depite score choice it will require applicants to the entry class of 2010 to submit all scores for tests they have taken. Not clear whether that means you must submit SAT scores you have if you submit only ACT. Probably won’t know answer to that until the new application comes out. In fact, there is a lot of unclarity as to the colleges who have had a knee-jerk reaction to score choice and decided to require all scores. They have no explanation for doing so except that they want to look like cry-baby bullies to the College Board for upsetting their usual process. Will they know whether you provide all official scores? Possibly – check with your high school, many of them put all your scores on your high school transcript. Penn is also one that will take the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT IIs so your ACT score effectively means you can apply to Penn without even taking SAT IIs.

Harvard will honor score choice and thus you can choose scores to send. However, it requires three SAT IIs in additon to the ACT or SAT.

just send your ACTs…
theyre good enough that you’ll be fine

Sending in your SAT score also should not hurt you, but your ACT score does convert to being higher. Unless you really want them to see your SAT, I’d personally just send your ACT. But neither should make or break your admission I don’t think. Good Luck! :)

Just send the ACT. Good job.

Only send the ACT.
