ACT Vs. SAT

As everyone knows, SAT is a widely known test for all High School students, however, ACT isn't ( IMO ).

So my question is

1 - just how important is the ACT test compared to the SAT test ?

2 - would Colleges prefer SAT more than ACT ?

thx

same

check with the individual college - in most cases, no

If you take both SAT and ACT scores, and do poorly on either one and better on the other one, would colleges take the poor one into consideration ? or rather, focus on the better one.

what is an ACT score that can get you into NYU and other mid-top tier UCs?

give me a "B"
give me a "U"
give me a "M"
give me a "P"

and you gettttttttt

B.U.M.P

There are very few colleges that favor the SAT over the ACT, and vice versa. Take both tests, and see which one you do best at.

When you say what i am best at, how do i know that when i get an ACT test score, what score it is, responding to a SAT score? do you have any information that can help me to "convert" the 2 test scores?

thx

Wake Forest and Princeton don't take the ACT at all...

This chart converts SAT to ACT score, and vice versa: :)

http://www.collegeboard.com/sat/cbsenior/html/stat00f.html

Actually Princeton does take the ACT . . . at least they did when I looked at their web-site the other day. Perhaps a new policy?

would you say that ACT is an "easier" test for students who are weak at vocabs but quite strong at logical thinking and math?

Why don't you look at the sample questions avaliable at www.actstudent.org and see for yourself.

Princeton does accept the ACT, however you still must submit SATII's.

All,

The reason that Princeton and all the Ivies must take the the SAT IIs is the Academic Index (AI) used for recruited athletes. They convert the ACT to an SAT I score and use that instead.
