Hey everyone,
so I took the ACT for the first time in June, and my ACT score was not bad, but it could use some work. (26 composite, the scores are as follows:)
English: 254
Math: 25
Reading: 30
Science: 23 (my lowest)
Essay: 8

I am thinking of going to the University of Georgia ( it is my dream school) and I want to apply the Early Decision in October. So what do you think I should do? (I already grabbed the PR book and started on science, writing, and english for some self-study.) But do you think I can pull it up to a 31? ( the score for the honor college there.) Any thoughts, suggestions?

Also, should I take the SAT? I already took it once, and I scored all right on it, but I want to get a good score before I apply to UGA. (my ACT score will really be the one on the application due to the deadline.)

Thanks. :)

Well you should definitely buy the Real ACT Prep book, and print their practice tests from the ACT website. That should be at least 5 real practice tests that you can take. Make sure as the testing date comes along that you properly time yourself under realistic testing conditions being that the time limits are a major factor.

For strategy/study go to your local library, as they should have a decent amount of prep books in stock. Princeton Review’s Cracking the ACT is pretty good, but I have found Barron’s ACT 36 to be very useful along with Dissecting the ACT 2.0.

Just make sure you thoroughly review every wrong answer and even the ones you got right but weren’t too sure about. Otherwise just keep practice consistent, ideally 1+ hours a day in the beginning, with more full length practice tests as the test date approaches.

Thanks so much! Yeah the time factor wasn’t too bad on the real test but I am going to follow that strategy. I already started, so thanks a bunch!
