ACT with writing..every time?

I tried to find this on the BC website but could not. I know BC requires that you take the ACT with writing but since I am re-taking the ACT and planning on submitting at least one score with writing can I re-take the ACT without writing and submit 2 scores…one with writing and one without?

BC is one school that does not have a blog where you can ask admissions…at least as far as I know…so I am posing the question here!

Regardless of what BC may (or may not) require, IMO you are foolish to take the ACT without writing. What happens if you ace it and you haven’t taken the essay? A great score brings into play all sorts of highly selective colleges and possible merit money at other colleges. But if you don’t have the W, that top score will be for nought.

By ignoring the W, you might be limiting your future app choices. Is it really worth it just to leave the test center 30 minutes earlier?

I took the ACT without writing during state testing and got a really good score and other times with writing and not as good of a score. So I was worried about the same thing.
Boston college DOES super score both the SAT and ACT, I asked when I visited.
They said send your scores with writing and without and they will tae the highest subscore for each, including writing.
So if you really don’t want to take it with writing, then as long as you have taken it once with writing then taking it without writing would be fine. However, its a better idea to take it with writing just in case because most colleges don’t superscore the aCT.

Thanks. Very helpful!
