DO you really need writing? SAT writing part isn't weighed heavily beacuse it's new but I have no idea about ACT writing. Can anyone clarify this for me? I got a 570 on the SAT writing part. I'll be using the ACT for transferring in a couple of years (that's the plan at least), if that changes anything.

might as well take ACT plus writing because it seems that many colleges are beginning to require it. although it may not be weighed heavily, it still is required for some. i say take it, and expand your choices for schools. this way you are open to any college

A lot of the "top colleges" in the nation require or highly reccomend the writing portion of the ACT (if that's the test you are submitting).

If you have specific schools that you want to attend in mind, check that school's website (or a site like Princeton Review, College Board, etc.) for info on their stance.
