I was under the impression that most of the "good" schools required you to take the ACT with writing. Is that true? If you take the ACT without writing and they require it with writing they will not accept that score. Any input?

You should definitely take it with writing because most good schools require that. If you happen to have a stronger composite score from a sitting without writing you can send that as well.

though some schools do actually not even look at writing and readjust your composite score to not include writing, either way its a good idea to take it w/ writing

You will have more options if you take the ACT WITH writing.
