I have a week left till my ACT, and I have no idea how to go about writing the essay for the writing part. One thing I would like to know is do you guys think writing is worth it? English is supposed to be one of the easier sections, so if you get an average grade on your essay, which is what i fear I will do, It will likely bring your English grade down. I think the SAT essay is pretty easy to write, so if the writing part is similar to that, then I'll be well off. If this essay isn't like the SAT one, can you guys give me some tips/guidelines on how I should write it? like is there a certain format you have to stick to for a decent grade? for the SAT you stated if you agreed or disagreed, and then gave 2-3 examples; is it the same for the ACT?

The ACT essay is much more specific than the SAT essay. Its more of a persuasive essay than anything. Both essays need to prove your point, but the SAT essay isn’t just black or white since you can bring in concrete information from the world. The ACT essay is more of a scenario that you need to justify and its a lot more about the certain situation. To be honest though, if you write a solid 5 paragraph essay that’s pretty organized, I think you’re good.

See the post about the person who got a 12. I followed it and got a 10. I’ll just need to brush up more, though, on the weak sections. Google it.
So @Sethrogen what did you end up getting and what advice did you follow?
I actually ended up doing the essay, and I got a 10 on it! I didn’t use more then a few good vocabulary words and I just followed the standard ACT essay structure.
look up a youtube video on how to write the ACT essay, thats all I did and it worked great. Dont freak out about it, If your a decent writer (i’m a mediocre writer ) youll do just fine
