I took the ACTs back in October with writing

I scored an 11/12 on the essay, and I was happy with that score

I signed up for the December 10th ACT without writing

I was wondering will it be ok for me to send this ACT without writing score to colleges? Because i've already taken the writing portion, and I figured be could save the extra money and report the scores without writing on the december test and the results of the october test to colleges.

Yes, I think it would be fine. Our S is doing the exact same thing. He has already taken the ACT once and the SAT several times all with writing. He simply wants to take the ACT one more time to boost his scores. You have a good writing score, I wouldn't bother with it. Just concentrate on the rest of the ACT and be glad it won't be as long of a test this Sat. Good luck!

...let us know what happens; i'm in the same bind...a 12 on the writing, but not happy with my composite score. I retook it in October (supposedly the hardest administration...and managed to lower my composite and writing score... but I won't be sending that one in). Also, if you don't mind, what colleges are you going to call? I'm probably going to end up calling a few places too, and there's no sense in overlapping...

my school activities and extracurriculars are actually gonna prevent me from calling this week...the important week; I'm gonna try to email a few places, but I'll post where I email before I send them

Crazy Kids, I don't think any of the colleges will have a problem with it. My G.C. called Duke and Dartmouth to see if they would still consider ACTs w/o writing (which I am taking saturday) since I have already taken ACTs w/ writing. I scored a 12 essay and 33 combined essay/english so my G.C. said it would be a waste of time to take the essay again.

nice job crazy! And you'll probably do even better on test day! prepping has been good ivy...english is at a 34...going to finish the other 3 sections most likely tomorrow since I have a paper to do tonight and have to watch the apprentice.

What gets me are the context questions, the ones referring to the passage as a whole. Sometimes I skim through the entire thing so fast that I just get shafted on one of those questions.

I think I'm going to review science and reading the most tommorrow.
