ACT Writing more than once?

I took the ACTs back in October with writing

I scored an 11/12 on the essay, and I was happy with that score

I signed up for the December 10th ACT without writing

I was wondering will it be ok for me to send this ACT without writing score to colleges? Because i've already taken the writing portion, and I figured be could save the extra money and report the scores without writing on the december test and the results of the october test to colleges.

thank you.

Yes, I think it would be fine. Our S is doing the exact same thing. He has already taken the ACT once and the SAT several times all with writing. He simply wants to take the ACT one more time to boost his scores. You have a good writing score, I wouldn't bother with it. Just concentrate on the rest of the ACT and be glad it won't be as long of a test this Sat. Good luck!

You would have to send both your scores, then.

Typically, colleges don't mix and match best subscores. I'm not sure how they'll treat the writing section, though.

yeah, I would be sending both scores....

and i figure that this is a separate component of the test, so it would not need to be taken twice if i'm satisfied with my score...

maybe i'll call the colleges though....

yeahhh, also that's a good point becuase the writing score does not factor into the composite.

...let us know what happens; i'm in the same bind...a 12 on the writing, but not happy with my composite score. I retook it in October (supposedly the hardest administration...and managed to lower my composite and writing score... but I won't be sending that one in). Also, if you don't mind, what colleges are you going to call? I'm probably going to end up calling a few places too, and there's no sense in overlapping...

i'll be calling: University of Virginia, Lehigh, Boston University, College of Charleston, Georgia Tech, and Emory...

i'm sure someone else has done this before..... does anyone know?!?!

my school activities and extracurriculars are actually gonna prevent me from calling this week...the important week; I'm gonna try to email a few places, but I'll post where I email before I send them

bump.......

What if I registered for writing and now don't want to take writing?

Crazy Kids, I don't think any of the colleges will have a problem with it. My G.C. called Duke and Dartmouth to see if they would still consider ACTs w/o writing (which I am taking saturday) since I have already taken ACTs w/ writing. I scored a 12 essay and 33 combined essay/english so my G.C. said it would be a waste of time to take the essay again.

thank you so much!!

What if I registered for writing and now don't want to take writing?

You get a refund for the writing section...they credit you for the $ you payed for the addition of the writing..

parikhs, can you just tell them that you want to switch on saturday?

Oh, and how's prepping going by the way? I'm going to work after school tommorrow.

just took a practice test this afternoon and my score raised from a 28 to a 30 :)

nice job crazy! And you'll probably do even better on test day! prepping has been good ivy...english is at a 34...going to finish the other 3 sections most likely tomorrow since I have a paper to do tonight and have to watch the apprentice.

What gets me are the context questions, the ones referring to the passage as a whole. Sometimes I skim through the entire thing so fast that I just get shafted on one of those questions.

I think I'm going to review science and reading the most tommorrow.

science i will review the most tomorrow, and brush up on some math theorems.

what theorums? There aren't many?

just stupid geometry stuff that i always forget.
