I just got my ACT score back from the February test. I got a 32 composite with a writing score of an 8. I got a 34 on English so my combined English/Writing is a 31. I am happy with my composite but a bit disappointed in my writing score. I'm planning on taking the test again in April though. But how much weight does the writing and writing/english score have on college admissions?

Yes, I am wondering the same thing! I got a 34 composite on the February test and am signed up to take it again in April. My writing score was 9 and the combined English/Writing score was a 32. Should I be focusing on getting the writing score up? I’m not sure what a “good” writing score is or how much colleges care about it. To give you an idea of the schools I’m applying to my three “reach” schools are Columbia, Princeton, and Duke.

I heard that it’s not vital but I’d like to hear others’ perspectives. Also, do you know if it’s possible to only send your best writing score? Because if I do better on the next test’s writing portion but my composite is lower, I would only want to send the writing from that test.
