ACT Writing score

I’m already on planning to retake the ACT in June, I just received my writing score and I got a 8 on it. Is an 8 a good score for the act writing? Please help…

Yes, it’s a relatively good score. In all honesty, the ACT writing isn’t that important. It’s most based on organization, rather than actual persuasiveness. I know people who stink at writing who’ve gotten 10s. However, I’ve seen great writers get 6s and 7s. That being said, colleges still want to see that you’ve taken it. In terms of admissions, schools will not reject you for an 8. They will look at your recommendation letters and actual essays a lot more than your ACT score. Hope that helps. Don’t fret.

My son got into Columbia with a writing score of 6. His regular score was 36. There has been discussion that it holds little merit because it correlates with volume of writing rather than quality.
