ACT Writing Section Question

Hi guys, I got a 12 on my writing the first time I took the ACT in March this year however I was wondering if I had to register for the ACT with Writing the second time in June for the writing to apply to the test in June. If possible that would be optimal since I don't have to worry about getting a lower writing score. Thanks for reading my inquiry!

I just reread what I wrote and I realized it is confusing. My question is - Can I take the ACT w/o Writing and keep my writing score from the last test or do I have to take the ACT w/ Writing again. Thanks.

Hi wenjen,

The writing composition section gives its own subscore, but is also combined to form a combined English/writing score. Since this is the case, I believe that you cannot carry over the writing subscore to a ACT w/o writing test.

With this said, however, I have never known a case where a person who receives 12s on essays have a massive decrease in score. You’ve obviously done well the first time, so I wouldn’t fret.

Thanks for the quick reply! Was hoping I could carry over my writing score, but I guess not. =/ Thanks!
