Hey Everyone! I'm takign the ACT this coming Saturday. I was wondering if anyone knew how to approach the writing section, I did take the New SAT last month(scores come next week) and I was wonderign if I should follow the same type of format(ie, intro/thesis, 3 para, conclusion). Thanks...btw, any advice for ACTs, this is my 1st time taking them.

Yeah the essay is pretty much the same as the SAT, use the same format if you want. It kind of sucks that you have to wait until the end to write the essay, though. As for ACTs in general... in my opinion the first two sections (Eng, math) aren't bad, but make sure you don't fall behind in reading and science because a lot of people I know don't have enough time to finish. I almost didn't finish the reading, so make sure you pace yourself.

I saw an article written by an essay grader who was complaining about the 5 paragraph format, and how it shows no creative thinking skills and such.

Are the reading sections & science sections hard?? Because I didn't do too well on the reading section on my practice test; I take the test this saturday.

Reading and science aren't too hard, you probably won't have a lot of time to check over answers, though... they're just like practice tests.. read and analyze charts and passages and stuff.

I think the ACT's give you 5 more mins than SAT's writing test.
I always leave spaces between paragraphs so I can add stuff later if the need arises to. Don't spend a lot of time on introduction or on conclusion (conclusion is just restating your topic sentences).

Correct, you have 30 minutes for the ACT writing test.
