when do the essay scores come out and how do they influence the composite score?

the essay scores usually come out a week or 2 after the MC scores come out

and the writing does not affect your composite score.... on the score sheet, it'll have your composite, the 4 subject area scores, and then it'll have your writing score with a separet "combined english/writing" score at the bottom... this score does not have any effect on your overall composite score

writing scores are up

mine aren't up yet... dang

I've gotten an 8 on the writing 3 times in a row.

I'm SICK of that number. I hate their BS grading, too.

I got a 9 and this was my first ACT? Is that good? How does this score compare to the SAT essay? what's the maximum score on the ACT writing? is the grading on ACT similar to that of the SAT - 2 graders...
sorry im new to this whole ACT thing

mine aren't up yet...
The website says they will have schedule maintenance tonight, so I'm guessing the majority of people will get their scores tomorrow.

i got a 9 and this was my first time.
is that a good enough score for PYCS?
i am taking my act again to get to 34, but if i keep that standard for writing is that good?

I got a 10.

They're up.
I got an 8 again :(! Oh well lol.

10 for the third time in a row...

mine still aren't up :(

Mine aren't up either.

they dont influence composite scores.

I got an 11 on my essay. My English section was a 32 and the writing/english composite was also a 32. Does the writing score usually affect the writing/english composite?

Do colleges put considerable emphasis on your writing scores?

I got an 11 on both my ACT and SAT essay this month. I'm pretty happy.

How is the composite english/writing score calculated? I got an 11 on my essay and a 32 on the english section. My composite essay/writing score was also a 32. Is it just a coincidence that I got the same score for the writing/english composite score or is it usually the same, no matter what the essay grade?

Well, I know that the english/writing and english scores aren't always the same. I got 36 on my English section, but with a 10 essay, I have a 34 combined score.

Daughter got a 35 composite; with English 36 but only 9 on essay which dropped her combined English score to a 33. A combined 33 is still in 99th percentile per ACT chart, so is that still good for the ivies and top colleges? When you have a 35 composite with 36 in both reading and writing does the 9 essay matter that much?

Do colleges re-do the composite with the combined English score? it doesn't seem to make sense that the colleges require you to take the ACT with Writing, and that the composite doesn't reflect the essay score. Afraid they may do this by themselves; otherwise how could they compare the SAT on the 2400 scale which includes the essay score and an ACT composite without essay score? it would be comparing apples and oranges right?

Thanks for any insight!
