I'm going to take the ACT in December on a whim...what can I use to prep for it - I don't want to overdo it like I did for the SAT's.

Kaplan ACT 2005-2006

www.sparknotes.com $14.95

Is the test relatively much easier than the SAT? I did the practice problems on ActStudent.org and I flew through them. Are they just easier on their site but harder on the actual thing?

I never took any practice problems from the site but I took the one on the Kaplan cd-rom and scored a 17.5, but on the real thing I got a 27...

a 17.5? whoa it must've been impossible. Did you practice before taking the real thing? It seems as though its an easier version of the SAT and the science section doesn't seem as bad as people make it out to be. I'm gonna give it a shot.

yea the questions on the site are much easier than the actual test...at least for october. I answered every questin the site correctly and ended up with a 25.

BTW- We're not exagerating when we say that october's science section was ridiculous! Trust me- it was hell on paper

it was very much that... my friend dropped 4 or 5 points from his previous science score... the main problem with the act is the time. work on that and you've got it.

Thanks! - yah the science looks like it'll take up a lot of time

yeah as long as you know to pace yourself before you go in you should do alright. 99% of the material will be an insult to your intelligence, but when you've only got 5 minutes left and you've still got the last 10 math questions to go (the problems supposedly get more difficult with each one), can you think fast enough? can you keep from getting frustrated? This tast is really just one you have to beat. Analyze it, and learn how to beat it. I thought I had it in October, but the Science section completely threw me for a loop.

I thought that only the SAT put the problems in order of difficulty, not the ACT.

I should have worked a little more on my pacing, I probably would have scored way higher than 25 if I had of gotten to all of the questions. Pacing is very very important!

I did better on the Science portion than the Math by 4 points -- but I completely guessed on the last section of Science.

i thought the last science section was rather easy compared to other ones i have taken

SAT=mykrytonite,

REALLY??????? What field of study are you applying to?

he's going to be working in the field of time manipulation, over the summer he worked with Berkeley professors on a project in which they discovered how to slow time. They tested it out on the October ACT, and this allowed ample time to answer the questions. :)

engineering, civil....i just wish that my english scores werent so low

what did you get? on everything?

31 in total breakdown 35m 36s 30r 24e

too bad you couldn't hear all of the expletives coming from my mouth... sux about english though. there's always that one score that brings it all down...

yea i hear u the act is rough
