Act

I randomly took this practice ACT test off the internet, it seemed RIDICULOUSLY easy... Compared to the SAT the ACT was like cake... Have any of you actually taken the ACT, and if so, how much higher did you score on the ACT than the SAT???

well the act is easier because its just information based and it tests how much youve learned. the sat uses more things that asks you to challenge your knowledge. everyone excells in one over the other. i took the act and got a 29(translates to a 1300 out of1600 sat) and i just took the sat, but i think i did like 1000 on it.

some people do better on the ACT, but sometimes it is the other way around. Personally I found the ACT to be much easier because they don't really test vocab (I think) and you aren't penalized for wrong answers. I got a 2120 SAT, 34 ACT

I thought that the ACT was easier and I'm only going to take it once. I got a 34.
I thought the SAT was just kind of annoying, took it twice, (2140, 2190, best composite=2240).
And now it seems like most schools will take either.

i might have to take the damn ACt then.lol. if i could score better.

I wouldn't say one is necessarily easier than the other but they are just so different. I think someone already said this but the ACT judges what you have learned so far in school, and the SAT judges more of how you will do on college material. The timing of the ACT is definitely harder however.

I thought the SAT was way easier.

No way ACT was so easy. SATs test BS vocab, ACT tests actual comprehension of the presented material whether in essays or in the data from the science sections.

The ACT/SAT conversion chart colleges use is based on people who took both tests. I think it is the best evidence for how folks, in general, do on one versus the other.

For any individual student, the scores may be the same, higher, or lower as between tests. This is certainly what I've seen reported on CC.

I took both back when I was in school and scored equally well. My son did the same. My daughter took practice tests, disliked the format of the SAT, and did better on the ACT. So she just went with that.

i'm sorry, but i think it's borderline insulting to write off the ACT as "easy." some people do better on the ACT, and others do better on the SAT. it's insulting to dismiss the ACTs because you're essentially telling people who scored highly that their accomplishments mean nothing. and most people who are quick to deride the ACT probably never even took it.

Very good point. I thank you for saying that.
