Act

is a 30 ACT good enough?

my friend got 30 and was rejected by duke but accepted by Gtown, NU, ND, Brown (where she is). so i guess it depends on everything else!

anyone else?

30 ACT I think is like a 1350 on the old SAT's... so while it is a good score, the average person accepted to Duke who took the ACT's is likely to have a higher score (32-33?)

I think that if the person had perfect grades and stellar EC's, he or she would have a really good chance of getting into Duke.

thanks!...any more opinions?

How about a 33 ACT from a New Yorker with somewhat unimpressive SATs?
600CR 800M 730W

jsph89, im in the same boat as you...32 ACT and 720M, 620CR, 790W.....=/ from competitive high school in south florida...any input?

I can join that boat. 33 ACT. Let's go to Cameron sometime guys.

Looking only at scores is misleading. Duke admissions is so competitive that they must consider the whole applicant. The scores you are tossing about are all good scores, but unfortunately, they are only average for Duke so it's hard to predict whether you will get in. While there are lots of qualified "average" applicants that are worthy of admission, there are just as many students with even better scores and stats that will not get in. Ideally, try to "shine" in some other areas and convey something unique about your stats that will make you stand out from the crowds. Beyond that, it's a guess as to who will get in. No guarantees, even with the highest credentials.

bandmom is right, did you know that about more than 1000 perfect SAT/ACT applicants are turned down every year by colleges like Duke??
